Help Edisto Beach

Coming down from nc to edisto beach for 3 day end of the month, looking for info about where to put kayaks in,also what fish are biting on and where to fish? Thanks:smiley:

Free ramps are at south end of the big Dawhoo bridge and at Steamboat Landing near N. Edisto River… Pay ramps are at the marina on the beach island and Live Oak Landing on Big Bay Creek in the state park. You can launch into the S. Edisto inlet free at several beach access points including one that is near the mouth of Big Bay Creek. There is a free kayak launch at Botany Bay Plantation on Ocella Creek, but check their website for closures during hunting season.

It’s been years, but I’ve launched at the south end of the island into S Edisto inlet… probably the same access that David is referring to. It’s a bit of a haul with the yak and probably best if two people are carrying the boats. (was there a wooden walkover we had to traverse?) It sets you out right across from Pine and Otter Islands and the fishing was good there years ago at least.
At this time of year, Redfish, Trout and Flounder are biting on live shrimp and finger mullet as well as a variety of artificials. It’s getting into the best time of year to fish.

If you don’t mind a surf launch and you have a fish finder there is structure off the beach that will be holding Bull reds very soon if not now.

Anywhere on the St. Helena Sound side of the beach is going to be an easy launch. No waves. Park at a beach access as close to big bay creek as possible on Yacht Club Rd and just carry it out there.
