Help making chum

About 6 years ago, I fished the SKA trail and other tournaments with a buddy. We always had fresh chum. Now, I really don’t kingfish anymore, except for fun, but I miss my chum. What I’m hoping to do by posting this is to find someone who has a woodchipper or a heavy-duty chum grinder. You say, woodchipper, WTH? Back in the day, 2 100qt coolers full of menhaden would be dumped into one and out came a fine, oily pulp that could be used fresh or frozen for later use. The shad and blueback herring run has just started and I plan to fill my freezer again with them. I’m hoping to find someone who will let me borrow their grinder to grind up a lot of whole, frozen shad. I’d be willing to throw a little cash for the use or would trade out some chum possibly. Just let me know, but hope to find someone willing to help another one out.

Appreciate it. I’ll be ready to use it pre-SKA time if that’s alright. Try cranking that beast up and I’ll start catching bait/chum. Again, thanks.

Hey Got2Go: Consider selling some of that chum to cf.com users, maybe you’ll sell enough to pay for a woodchipper for yourself…

If anything, I might need a few extras in the boat catching the chum to be more efficient:wink:.

GOT2GO I will start messing with the chipper Friday it shouldn’t take too much to get going. I have no plans on selling any chum to anybody don’t worry about that it’s for personnel use only!

that’s up to you.that’s what kings are for.catchem and hang off the side of the boat.half on one side and half off the other side.:wink:

I’ve seen a chum copper hanging on the side of a guys boat. I heard they were called a chum chum. You shake it up and down with fresh bait and it chops it into chum and acts kind of like a chum bag slowly releasing it. Made out of PVC. Anyone know where they come from, can’t find it on the web, may be home made?

they have blades on them mounted on a shaft with a spring.try bass pro.they have them in the offshore angler catalog.

Hey G2G, i’m a newbie to the kingmac scene but what better way to get involved than by helping catch bait/chum!! Start at the bottom and work my way up!! Theres no I in team!! PM me.

Got2Go, if the wood chipper proves too messy/loud etc. I have an industrial meat grinder that I have used with great success for grinding chum. You can come over and use it if needed.

Thanks for the offer.

Hey Cbrods I have one hanging in my garage havn’t used it in a while it works and will do what it is supposed to do. I used it Cobia fishing in the broad river. Worked well on threadfins. Will consider selling it if interested.

Thanks Jiggin, made one myself for Cobia this year, not sure if it helped. We caught two nice ones, just not sitting still. It was the first spot and stalk for me on Cobia, what a blast.

Can I borrow your towel? My car just hit a water buffalo.
