help! motor wont crank.?

last week, had to jump start the motor, battery was old and i let it die. when i did let it run for a while, but still wouldnt start up on its own. so jump started it again, and while running if i did anything that pulled electricity, it shut off.

got new battery, everything is fastened well, but will not start, trim even wont work(sounds like clicking when i press the trim button), but other wise nothing.

electronics work otherwise, just not around the motor.

any ideas?

check fuse on motor usually 30 amp

Had something similar happen before,in my case i needed to replace my battery cables due to inside corrosion.Wasn’t pulling enough voltage to run the engine.

checked all fuses that i could find, all good.

the relays, which are two, a main relay and starter relay. when turn the ignition nothing at all. when i hit the trim button, the relay(assuming the main relay) clicks in a fast rate.

Does your new battery have a full charge??

Haven’t tested it but jump starting via truck has same outcome.

What make/model motor?

Any salt water corrosion under the cowl?

Negative

Where are you trying to jump start from? From the ends of the cables, or under the cowl? I’m not sure, but jump starting might not be a good idea on a newer motor. Check that the black (-) negative cable is getting a good connection at both ends, battery, and engine.

Yes, all tight

And was attempting jump start from battery itself.

you have a high resistance some where in your ignition wiring. It could be a connector. It could even be a fuse holder. Jumper around spots like this and you will find it.

sorry never mind, i got it going.

was a wire that was pos only that had fell down, and i just so happened to miss it for two days.

<----weekend dumbass award goes too <----

thanks to all, anyways.
