While fishing yesterday, my Motorguide was working fine, and then stuck on medium speed. Would not slow down, cut off, or speed up. Pulled the top and found the tiny shaft that slides into the end of the handle broken. This part goes between the handle and a tiny black box on the circuit board. The shaft is about the size of a Q-tip shaft. It has a 3 bladed “head” that goes into the D shaped hole in the end of the handle that extends into the TM head. I don’t think Superglue will hold. I called Tracker, & they will call Mercury Monday, but I have another fishing trip scheduled for Tuesday. Has anyone had this issue? Any have a juryrig? I’ll probably come up with a fix, but hoping someone has done this successfully before.
West marine or another motor guide dealer may have a replacement “shaft”.

Spec,
I rebuilt the control unit on my Motorguide a few years ago. I just looked up “MotorGuide parts” on the internet and ordered what I needed. I typed in my model number, and found the right parts. They came in shortly, and I installed everything. It was a breeze.
If you’re unsure what exact part numbers you need, Google the “parts schematic” or “diagram” for your model, and all the parts should be drawn and labeled wth part numbers. Then Google the part numbers or look them up on the vendor site where you’re ordering.
I don’t remember where I bought my parts, but I’d probably start here.

Thanks ya’ll. I found an old TM foot switch in my garage junk pile. I rigged it in the power cord to get me through Tuesday’s trip. That way I can set the motor on one speed and cut it on and off with the foot switch. But, I’ll have to take the top off the TM every time I want to change speed. I’ll call the contacts ya’ll gave me tomorrow and see if this part is available. It looks like a 50 cent part to me, but things are not always simple these days. Thanks again for the contacts.
