Help! Planning a Low Country Fishin' Trip

I’m looking at getting a little 4 or 5 day SW fishin’ trip up for 4-8 guys in the charleston area. We would be bringing our boats along and be lookin to catch red’s, flounder, trout, and anything else that swims inshore. The main thing I’m needing help on is finding a good place to stay for all of us. By that I mean a place that has boat ramp nearby, that’s close to good fishin for the guys that just have small jon boats. A cabin would be great, it doesn’t need any frills. Just a place to sleep, eat, shower, and charge our batteries for the next day. While searching the net, I’ve seen that the city has some cabins on James Island, but it looks like there’s not alot of water around. I also noticed there are some cabins on Edisto and Hunting Island state parks. Hunting Island looks like it has the most water nearby, but is it productive? Does anyone know of any other places or has anyone have an opinion on the ones I mention? Which has the best fishing?

I’m still undecided on the time of year. Early May or Early Oct. would work best for me, but I’d like to have some input on that also??? I love topwater fishin’, but I’ll use whatever it takes.

I just want everyone to catch fish and have a good time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jon

PS - We are not lookin’ to haul back everything we catch. Other than a few fish for supper, we catch and release!
