Caught in a pond in our development by my brother-in-law.
What is it? We thought it was a monster crappie at first.
It weighed 3lbs, and was 15 inches.

The fish seemed to be protecting a bed. She’d come off to push a bait away, and right back to her spot. My brother in law threw crank bait, jig, semko worm and swimbait. She’d attack everything, aggressively, but only enough to swim it off the bed, then drop it. The semko worm, she’d grab the tip of the tail only. It was really cool to watch. So, finally we ripped about half inch off the semko, and put just that but on the point of the hook. She picked it up to move it, and got enough of the hook for a hook set. Got her out, snapped pics, and put her right back in. I’m going to go later this weekend just to see if she set up again on the same bed.
