help with Gas problem

I accidently allowed the paper round circle in the top of my gas treatment to go into my tank. Its a new boat. Should I worry or figure out how to fish it out. I have a micron filter and i am sure other filters, but i am worrying it will cause me trouble at the absolute worst time.

I doubt it will ever cause a problem. It sure would be tough to get it out of there!

What kind of gas tank do you have? Does it pull from the top or bottom? If it pulls from the top how much room is under to end of the pickup tube? Most pickup tubes don’t go all the way to the bottom. If it feeds from the bottom you may get it in the line! Take another bottle of fuel treatment, cut the paper round out of it and put it in a can of gas. You can see weather it will float or sink. Give you an idea of what may happen down the road. Or, if top feed, you can see if the dealer knows if the tube has a screen on the bottom.Just my 2 cents! I had the little bead chain, that goes to the fuel filler cap, fall into my filler neck, never to be seen again. I knew that it would sink. Unless it dessolved, it’s still in there.

The boat is a DLV 198 Carolina Skiff and thats about all I know at this point, i think its a 22 gallon tank or close by, perhaps I should ask on the carolina skiff forum. Thanks for all the info. I have a perfectly new boat and somehow I managed to make myself worry about it now. But I think it may be fine. I am sure its got some kind of screen or something.

</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”>Turn lemons into lemon-aid. Take the opportunity to MAKE SURE you have the filters that ‘you think’ you have. The little paper cap top is not going to kill your boat… unless… you have NO filters. Most boat motor problems are a result of what people call “bad gas”. And on a practical level that usually means there is crap in the gas (like little pits of paper) that aren’t filtered out because the boat doesn’t have good clean filters.

I said FILTERS (more than one).

Your boat is fine. Learn where all your filters are and add some if you only have one.

Those little foil covered thingies keep me busy. I know at least 6 times a year customers bring their trucks in for not starting or suddenly shutting off. Those things cover or obstruct the suction line at the most inopportune time. I also get a lot of cigarette pack wrappers. I guess disgruntled people put them in big truck fuel tanks.
