So I’ve been gigging 5 times in the past 3 weeks and I need some help! We’re averaging about two fish per trip mostly because we spend the majority of the time trying to find clear water or favorable conditions. The one consistent spot we’ve found is up a creek, but I have a hunch the bigger fish will be closer to the bigger water. Is this true?
What are the best conditions for gigging and what kind of habitat holds clear water and more fish? Obviously low winds are helpful, but what about the tides, moon, landscape, etc? I’ve been trying around the harbor in Mt. Pleasant and I’m using 3 12v lamps to a DC battery for light. Any information is helpful!

No wind, no rain, low tide. If you don’t have all three stay home. I forgot the most important one, No WEEKENDS EVER! Way to many people running around stirring up the water.

Yes, but big water usually means more wind and current. Unless it’s flat calm everywhere, I pick creeks that feed directly into big water.

What Sellsfish said. I’ll add that the days around a full or new moon always have larger tides. Big tides wash out a lot of trash, along with stronger currents that make the visibility worse. The weeks centering on the quarter moons have the lowest tidal range and usually better vis.
