Help with Grubs

I have seen a lot of references to the use of grubs. Not being too familiar with artificials, can someone enlighten me to exactly what a grub is, how you set up to use one, good colors, and just basic technique for use?

Any help appreciated.

The term grubs is generally just referencing soft plastics or gulp baits fished on a jig head. You can ask 10 fisherman what their favorite color/style grub is and you will get 14 answers that are all the best! Personally I like a 1/8 ounce jig head (preferably a Capt Don’s brand jig head) and Assassin “chicken on a chain” or “shrimp” colored paddle tail in 4 inch. Have also done very well with the ZMAN paddle tails in “new penny” and “motor oil”. Saphire Shine gulp jerk shads on a type of flutter hook is also deadly. Stop in to a local tackle shop and an associate can show/explain all the options out there.
