Help with STOLEN MOTOR

Im posting this here and in other sections so as many people see this as possible so don’t fuss please.
Last week my dads brand new 4 stroke 20 hp yamaha tiler motor was stolen off our jon boat on our dock. It is on intracoastal waterway in awendaw. If anyone has had similar issues past or present on the waterway with possible leads please PM me. Several other boats around have gotten robbed as well and the bastards cut my fenders off the dock and stole them as well. Keep a look out and please PM me with thoughts or leads. Thanks much.

What a shame…sorry to hear this. If I catch him/her I’ll put a few holes in his boat and send out a message for the rest of ya to come help save him and get him and his belongings safely ashore.

Be sure to file a Police Report … this will also alert the pawn shops and help HW Patrol notice the motor if its going out of state.

Thanks, Captain Ross

Head first, in pluff mud. For however long the one who was defrauded deems appropriate. Sounds like a fair wage for stealing an outboard.

Motor is out of State already.Sorry about the loss.

stonoman- is this a common business…stealing motors and going out of state? some way around reregistering in different state even though same vin number or id number on motor?

Other states don’t require motors to be registered, just the boat hull and trailer!

Right - FL is one with no motor registration.

Be careful if you buy a motor out-of-state - you must have (for SCDNR) a registration if the state required it, or proof of ownership if the state doesn’t do motor reg. It can get sticky. I backed out of 2 boats because they didn’t have docs (I think they were clean, just no legal paper trail).

Sorry about your loss …

Sorry about the loss. Saddens me when I hear about victims of these azzholes.

I believe 3 out 4 small time thieves are also stupid, so I wouldn’t give up hope on Craig’s list and reporting to police in hopes of pawn shop discovery.

If you have say the same motor but yours blew up all u do is steal one like yours and remove the serial number plate from your old motor and pop rivet it on the stolen one.Change motor covers and you are good to go.I was going to get a 10 hp kicker for my boat and had a guy bring me one for sale.I noticed the tag had new pop rivets and refused.
