I loaned my boat out to a good friend for a weekend on the lake. I got it back today and went fishing. I put the boat in the water and lowered the motor. No problems. It sounded like it was under powered when I raised and lowered the motor. So I did it a few times and after two times it just stopped. I can hear the electric click when I go to raise or lower the motor but no movement.
I feel guilty that I keep thinking that my buddy messed up my boat and didn’t tell me. Could it be that it is low on hydraulic fluid and there was a shut off on my Yami. It’s 4 years old (not under warranty any longer). I assume if its low then there must be a leak???
What suggestions and or ideas do you guys have? If I need to provide any additional details please let me know. I’ll be watching my post closely over the next day or so.
Also it’s stuck half way between completely trimmed down and completely trimmed up. So I left it at the lake so as not to risk any additional damage. Feel like I left one of my kids at the lake by themselves.
The pump will still run if it is low on fluid. The electric click you hear is the solenoid actuating to run the motor. It sounds like the pump of motor is siezed which will cause a high electrical load to the alternator and lug the engine a some which explains the low power sensation.
One thing about a boat, there is not much one can do to “mess” it up. start it, run it trim it up and down.
So dont sweat your buddy messing it up. It would have done it to you eventually. But that is Murphys law, loan anything out and it will break down. I try not to borrow much but hey what are friends for?
Fishing on the bottom is like having sex with the lights turned off. It feels good… but I wanna see it.
Lights On!
