I was wonder if any body could give me an idea of what the river is like up there because I was thinking of doing some fishing up that way. Is the fishing good, is there a lot stuff to worry about hitting under water in a boat, tides to fish, any help would be great.
If you leave the ramp and head up river its very shallow. Never caught much up that way. I usually go down river, and even then you have to be very careful on depth and its a long ways to get out of the no wake zone. I’ve only fished with success in the summer with blue cats and reds on the low/rising tide. I don’t know what its like this time of year. Let me know if you go, I’m curious. I live 2 miles from there so if anything is hitting I wouldn’t mind going out there sometime.

That part of the Ashley gets very cold this time of year. There are some striper up there but this year has been slow for them for me. That area is one of the most beautiful places in Charleston

Ah ok. I haven’t caught any strippers up there, but I haven’t fished out of there since August. I wonder if the catfish are hitting in this cold weather.

Well I went to the boat landing and was impressed by the boat landing and the looks of the area so was very optimistic, but that went away after about to hours of fishing high tide falling with out any bites or signs of fish or bait in the water. It was very scenic but no action, I only fished about a mile of the river down from the landing and five different spots for about twenty minutes a piece; a bend, a ledge/deep spot, and some older fallen trees. Everybody I talked to said they didn’t even get a hit, the water was the usual Ashley brown with a heavy mixture of chocolate milk swirled in because of the current and the water treatment plant releasing water.
