Heroes on the Water 8 December 2009 PIX ADDED

We took our first group out yesterday!! We had Cleeve, a Vietnam Vet, Jonathon a Navy Corpsman and Iraqi Freedom Vet with us and Capt. Charlie Hall from the USMC Wounded Warrior Regiment, he runs the Carolinas District Injured support cell and brought Cleeve and Jonathon down, and of course, Austin, Carter and myself as the guides for them. We fished the Wando and although the rain stayed away most of the day the wind was the bear yesterday. It was pretty sporty in the AM. The low water coupled with the oysterbars and such made for some pretty good chop on the way out. After the water came up a little it smoothed out and was a little better. We finally got set up and Carter nabbed us some bait and it was time to fish. Carter struck first blood with a respectable 20+" red then Austin nabbed a good, pushing 30" red, Capt. Hall and myself hooked up on a pair of reds at the same time for a helluva double! Man these fish were bright copper colored and looked HEALTHY! Carter nabbed a few trout, including a nice double with 2 of his poles in the way back in. Jonathon didn’t get a fish but he said it was the most relaxed he has been in a long time so we accomplished our goal! We are all about getting fish in the boat for these Heroes but as long as we provide the time, gear and opportunity for these guys to relax, fish and just enjoy them selves for a day it’s all worth it! He had some trouble with his tiny paddle (thanks Tommy :smiley::smiley::stuck_out_tongue: ) but he still had a blast. Once I swapped paddles with him he was of to the races and really enjoyed it. I want to thank Capt. Hall for bringing down 2 awesome new fishing buddies, we look forward to fishing with Jonathon and Cleeve again soon! I’d also like to thank our sponsors of the day the Dog and Duck in Park West for the Awesome supper for us and great staff, the KOA campgound for giving us a Cabin for our guys to stay in while visiting us and a new sponsor for us The Twisted Fish in Mt. P as well. Brandon, the lunches were outstanding and our guys reall

Ken
Good job on getting the Heroes out yesterday. I apologize for the itty bitty kid paddle. I had brain lock - the green kayak goes with the short paddle, the red kayak goes with the Fin - Stalker,…

Glad the event went well and I look forward to being out there with you next time.

I had a blast yesterday!!! Rough conditions though. I just sent Jonathan on his way after lunch and I think this is something that really helped him. We were talking about getting a kayak and how much it would cost. He is also going to email me pics of the cabin, lake, and trip for us to use. Missed you out there Tommy. Sorry you could not make it.

The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad. </font id=“size2”>

The full time job had me occupied all day yesterday. Meetings and conference calls. I should be able to make the next one. New vacation days start in January.

BTW Carter,
I’m still carrying your 3rd cast net around in my trunk. Do you want me to pass it to Ken tomorrow or drop it at Dog and Duck next time I’m over that way.
