I’ve got herring scales all over the hand rails where the rod holders are mounted and on the vertical tubes on my Ttop not to mention the rods and reels. I’ve used a power washer in the past but that tends to be a pain to set up. Was just wondering if anyone has a magic process to remove them with as little effort as possible…

They won’t scratch (or at least I have never had them scratch anything I’ve tried it on) and the fibers kind of catch the scales and trap them. One pad will last a long time. You can also use them to remove sticker residue with the addition of WD40 as a lubricant.
It’s no miracle process but it sure beats scratching them off with your fingernail! Good luck.
As Ben Franklin said: “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” I bait my hooks with the rod in a holder and enough line out to allow the bait to land in the water when I drop it. After putting the herring on the hook and dropping it in the water, I always reach in the water and rinse my hands before picking up the rod to put the bait down. If you fish out of a boat where you can’t reach the water, I’d keep a bucket of water in the boat to rinse my hands in. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. This prevents most of the scales from getting on anything. It’s hard to remember to do this at first, but eventually it will become second nature. Now getting your fishing partner on the same page can be a different story…

Hey can you use these on painted surfaces? I need to get some 3M tape off my truck and it’s a friggin’ pain in the _______
Rick ,
I’ve never tried it on my truck’s finish. It’s gentle but maybe not THAT gentle .You might have to polish it out afterward. Let us know - if you try it.
I think something like “Goo be gone” might work better on your truck. Have you tried a little WD-40?
As far as the t-top, I use super fine steel wool or brass wool to clean alum.
By the way boatpoor, I’ve seen some of the stuff my dogs eat. I don’t think I want them licking my beard.

Man, that reminds me:I had a chow that would eat my shrimp bait ball I made with red mud, could not let him in the house fore days and it wasn’t bad breath!
