How was your trip to the Keys. We did not catch any bones in Biscayne Bay. We say probably 60 fish in 3 days and could not get them to eat. We threw shrimp at them the first day and everything but the kitchen sink the next two.
It was to rough to go to the bridges and catch tarpon.
We did catch a bunch of peacocks and other tropicals which was very fun.
Hope you did well.
Chris.
was sweet!!! had 3 differnt buddies bail on me, so fished alot by myself as wife doesnt like getting up early on vacation, making flyfishing very frustrating, trying to pole, spot and cast alone is not the best… saw tons of bones 1 morning at sunrise, would not give me a good shot, everytime i would stake out they would hear the chirping of water on my transom and stop tailing, swim 120ft upwind and begin tainling again, ended up having some beers and watching 'em ■■■■■ me off… caught huge poon with wife driving boat 1 eve on pinfish in channel, wifey still talks about it!! she had some wonderful chances at tailing permit, if she had flyrod in hand they would stay pretty close, as soon as live crab was brought out, they would start acting like permit again (sometimes spooking while crab was in air travelling towards them)… caught some large snook on livies… first fish i saw bonefishing at shell key was a ■■■■ redfish!!! was pissed… fished out back one day for reds and decided their reds are considerably smaller than ours and notm the best use of my time… already planning for trip next year…

sounds like a good time. Can’t wait to get down there whenever that is. Hopefully mid june. I haven’t used many vacation days and hope to be able to take a late summer/early fall trip as well. August/sept is one of my favorite times to go. No crowds and the fishing is nuts.
NBK, who’d you fish with in biscayne?
Capt Mo Estevez and Cordell Baum.
Both are super great guys. We saw a bunch of bones but none of them would eat. We fished two days also on our own. Mo was very helpful sending us in the right place. We saw several bones that were 10+ lbs.
I love South Florida. The fishing is awesome and the nitelife is second to none.
We stayed at a very nice hotel for $75 a night. Pretty cheap.
My buddy did catch this box fish. It put up a hell of a fight.

A pretty cool story about our trip.
We were peacock bass fishing along a busy road in Miami and casting to the backs of some houses across the canal. The homeowner comes out and asks us what we were doing from across the canal. We tell him and he said that there were several nice fish right under him and to cast to them. We did with no luck. He goes back in the house and we do not see him.
About 4 minutes later this car pulls up on this busy road and it is the homeowner, he tells my buddy to get in, my buddy was in the marines at the time so i was not worried about him. They show up back at this guys house across the canal a couple of minutes later and catch 3 peacocks in a row.
Amazing how cool some people are.

cool story nbk! There are SOME good folks down there.
Just talked to dad and we are gonna go June 18-28. He is kind of leary of any guide days but hope to convince him to do one at least. And will be getting Honson to go at least one of the days. Hope to hit the DT bones, ocean tarpon and maybe a day or two west of KW. I am glad to finally have a trip to look forward to. Usually have caught tarpon way before they show up here, but its very possible to get one here before leaving. Earliest one i have gotten here was June 15th.
I will be down in the keys in less than two weeks to do some fly fishing and filming with a friend that guides out of Marathon. He has been giving me daily reports and the big poons are very hungrey right now. I can’t wait.
“Fishing is alot like sex…when its good,it’s really good, and when its bad, its still pretty good.”
Hunter,
This is how much time I spend looking at fishing sites. I was in Tarpon Bend restaurant in Coral Gables and in walks Benzo. Never met him or spoke to him, but recognized him right off the bat.
Him and Mo are pretty good friends.
Have fun down there.
Chris.
Me too bro. Chasfishing, hewes.com, floridasportsman, and panicfreaks.org are all usually in the top of my history.
Thanks, trying to line up a guide or two in addition to fishing with Honson a couple days. Psyched.
Just talked to Tejera. 7/10 yesterday, 4/6 today. I shouldn’t have asked…
