hey guys. I used to fish a lot when I was a kid, but have not really done it in the past 15 years or so. so i am considering myself new to this again. my dad used to always tell me that the best time to fish was a few hours before low tide till a few hours after low tide. i want to go this weekend but will only be able to fish in the morning because family will be here in the afternoons. if i saw correctly that means i will be fishing the rising tide until high and then first part of the falling tide. any advice on the best way to fish the high tide especially since i wont be able to scout the area during low tide to find the oysters, shell banks, drop offs, etc.
appreciate the help and advice.
trolling motor, if you have one… any edge along any of our rivers pitching a popping cork with live bait of choice under it to the grass and working it back towards you from there…
rinse and repeat…
pay attention to any crease, point, area where grass hits shell bank/ grass hits rip rap, or feeder creek with a steady current where a rip is formed.
live shrimp and finger mullet have been working quite well…the shrimp will do well until the pinfish get big enough to upset you into using mainly mullet, menhaden, or mud minnows for the duration of the season.
another good way to scout is to do the same on low light conditions throwing a topwater plug instead of live bait. You’ll enjoy this. Super spook jr in chrome/black…

Fish are too valuable to be caught only once.
Great advice from Stretch, and the pin fish are getting big enough to eat the shrimp and they are pretty small and hard to catch when they do get the shrimp.
fish nude so u can show off ur pole…
thanks guys. I do not have a trolling motor. I guess I will just drift with the current and try it out. I have a boston whaler 15 ft dauntless. It has the plugs up front for a trolling motor, i just dont own one. would you recommend getting one or is it worth the money having one?
extremley beneficial…
this may help: make your leaders off the popping corks about 3’ with a light split shot. If using shrimp or mud minnows try leaving the weight off (gives the bait a more natural presentation). Often I see float rigs with leaders that just arn’t long enough… the little things make a difference.
