High visibility yellow line, spook fish?

Got me some momoi high vis yellow on all my poles. Yeah just because it looks cool. Do these type of lines spook fish? I’m using the same line for the leader in all. I was thinkin it would be ok for catfish, since they still take the bait off of trout lines and I know they can see rope. Any experiences from fresh or saltwater that spooked fish? I imagine it would be terrible for bassfishin.

I’ve got a buddy who swears up and down that braided line spooks Large mouth bass if it goes over a lily pad or debris. I can say that I never noticed any difference between mono or braid or color of either. Just sensitivity and strength issues. Fished with red, green, yellow, camo…

Maybe when fish are finiky it might make a difference?? But when they are hungry I haven’t seen a difference.

I always use a clear mono or flouro leader, so this is probably not helpful, but I use only yellow braid and it doesn’t seem to spook the reds around charleston. I like the yellow because it is much easier for me to see.

I have never used yellow for this very reason. I made the mistake of using camao one summer and I couldn’t see the line. Technically, if you are trolling the line isn’t in the water; only the leader. I don’t know the answer to your question, but I will tell you that a lot of the charters run the high vis stuff and they catch a lot more fish than I do. I personally think leader is more important and can spook fish.

If you are talking about bottom fishing or for leader, I would never use high vis for that. You are trying to disguise the line, not have a light bulb on for the fish to see your line. The only time I have heard of people using high vis is for trolling so they can see all of the lines easier.

i do a lot of expermenting with line. different colors different brands. when i troll i use a different color on each rod most of the time.from my experiance the worst line to use is red. that high vis. yellow i don’t have much luck on but that high vis green gets a lot of hits trolling. the floroscent lines like florescent blue stren work great on bright sunny days. if you take one of the bright florescent lines and hold it up toward the sky on a sunny day is pretty hard to see. the worst line i’ve used for the amount of strikes is the gray/clear colors. not scientific but just my experiance.

i use hi vis trolling much easier to see spread and avoid/fix tangles i also have 12’ clear 130# leaders on all ballyhoo/skirt catch plenty of fish
for inshore i use the white spiderwire braid 20# with a 20# flouro leader of about 2 ft love that stuff fish inshore cant see more than a few ft anyways so i like a color i can see

High Vis. main line with 9’-12’ Flouro leader
