Hill sunday

Went out on the hill again today and redeemed ourselves limited out on 6 to 7 pd big fat hybirds in no time had to cut down to 1 rd on each side of the boat caught them in 53 ft of water in the modock area few cranks off the bottom up to 25 ft great way to end the weekend

What a difference a day makes. Hard to get with weather not appearing to be an issue from yesterday to today.

Sounds like a good day whatever day it is.

Where is the hill & modock area? We got skunked Thursday evening like many others, then I see post of guys catching the limit Friday & today. The elusive stripers! Sooner or later I’ll find them! Thanks

The “hill” is what most call Clarks Hill lake or “Strom Thurmond” lake for the really young people…ha… and modoc is straight down hwy 23 out of batesburg. Follow 23 till it dead ends. You can turn left to reach the lower modoc ramp or turn right to go to the ramp near the oxygen system.

Thanks! I’ve been on lake Murray for a long time & thought I was missing out on something! Sounds like I need to venture out a bit!

If you really want to have the best opportunity possible to catch a BIG fish gotta travel…murray has good fish but your odds increase greatly by fishing clarks hill, russell, hartwell and ESPECIALLY Lanier. Come Nov thru May get ya some “big baits” and load up the boat and pick any one of these lakes and you never know how big of a fish you will catch in these lakes.

It was a blast and that was the biggest hybirds I have ever caught on that lake have caught 4 to 6 pdrs but never any 7’s and chip guess who I saw with two anchor ropes out should have took a picture of it

Man Danny! You’d have gotten our 2nd place check with a catch like that yesterday. That’s fishing! Congrats on a great day!

I kick myself in the butt for not fishing that end Saturday I knew they were in that spot I went straight to them and got them to bite hopefully they will not move to much before Labor Day weekend and congrats to your team for a hard fought tough day

Ok MurrayMaker, I’ll have to meet up with you sometime at the dock & get some more details. I’m game to travel! All of these are not bad trips!

No but the last one I caught I told Lenny this one feels like it has chips rod hard puller for about 5 min

Shipwreck, sounds like a fun day.

Just curious as I see you caught all hybrids…is that typical for you guys that fish CH to have a particular area that you just catch stripers or just catch hybrids? …or do you also find them together sometimes as well?

You find them together we caught quite a few small stripes out of the group but in the past I have caught some big stripers with the hybirds I would rather catch those fat hybrids any day over a striper they make you think it is a 20 PDr on the other end of the line what a fight

Not sure which I’d rather catch. Big stripers will make several long, spool melting runs, whereas hybrids will make a quick run then hunker down into tight circles. Both are great! Tim, I agree with Danny. You will often find the larger hybrids with large stripers. However, if you land on a school of hybrids less than 20 inches, that’s all you’re going to get. It’s either move or run out of bait.
