Hilton Head Kayak Fishing

Anyone going in the HH/Bluffton area this weekend? I’m headin out to the Jarvis Creek/Old House Creek flats to scout for redfish, trout and flounder. New to the sport, so it’ll be an exercise in what not to do but should be fun.

its about time someone from the area
I got a new WS ride let me know when do you want to go out

I was down there this past week (not for fishing) and saw a yak back in those oyster mounds off the 278 bridge.

never been in that area but it looks good Topwatercrazy do you know any othey yakers in the hiltonhead bluffton area or what kind of bait to use in those areas

If it was early Am it was me in the yak by the HH bridge. I am in Bluffton and new to fishin and yak fishin. I only get out once a week at best as I am a cyclist also and I ride alot. I would love to hook up with a group and see what we can do.

As for what I have found in those waters so far,(3 trips) 3ft Bonnet head, black tips, and rays. There has to be more though. I would think reds, trout, flounder, and maybe sheepshead under the bridge.

Have any of you had luck there or maybe in the May river?

Paul

The area looks good but it must get hammered being right off the bridge and across from the boat ramp. I saw some good creek mouths the whole area looks really good. I never have fished around HHI, but that may change soon. Nitro try sitting outside of a small creek mouth on incoming with live bait should be trout and/or reds as long as there is structure at the mouth. Wouldn’t mind making a trip down there.

Maybe some of the Beaufort yakers can help us explore the area
are you thinking about moving in the area I have good conections with builders and real state people

Is there a better place to launch a yak than the boat ramp @ the 278 bridge to fish around the back side of Pickney Island? I am only down there a few times a year and did not know the best place to put in? Thanks,

Al

Don’t know of any but try and find a coastal expeditions map it has pretty much every public access. You should be able to find them in a tackle store or even a kayak shop down there.
