Hilton Head Reef 4/21

This was my 1st time taking one of my own boats offshore…

We got to the reef at about 9am. (Late start, I know. Blame the booze from the night before.)

BSBs were coming up left and right. We got about 20-25, but only two were legal. We got a juvenile gag, two ringtails, a few toadfish, and one single pinfish that I turned into bait. Sadly, whatever it was that hit that, I was unable to get it off the bottom from whatever wreck it decided to go inside. 15-20 minutes later, I cranked down the drag and just let it pop.

Water temp was about 70*. We had a HUGE turtle hang out for a while which was pretty darn cool. Those things fascinate me. The one time he came up right beside the boat, I didn’t have a camera ready.

Water was kinda rough, but the boat did pretty darn well, IMHO. I put 53 miles on it yesterday and burned right at 25 gallons.

Going slow. I was on the bow and my buddy ducked as the picture was snapped.

i like that version of autopilot better!

tried talking to an iron mike once, they dont say much

Nice boat. We have gotten a lot of miles and fish out of our 18 Key West. Butler does a good job keeping it running. Hopefully the Cobia will be moving in to the nearshore reefs soon. Congrats on the fish.
