Hitting Hartwell Saturday

Finally getting back on the water this week, given up turkey hunting for the year.

Not sure where I will head but I hate to admit it but think I am going to start out fishing cut bait on points instead of planer boards

I will post results when I get home, probably headed up Tugaloo River section

DANG DEAD BATTERY:frowning_face::frowning_face::frowning_face::frowning_face::frowning_face::frowning_face:

Picked my boat up from shop where waiting to get 100 service done and THOUGHT I CHARGED MY STARTING BATTERY, had taken my electronics battery out to get a new one and just not had enough time to get around to it, so off to get new battery this am and got my starting battery charging.

May still make it out late this am, after all got 3 doz bb’s swimming in tank, started to unhook that battery but figured I need to go ahead and get new batteries anyway

Hopefully I can keep them alive overnight and head out in the am, guess I will have to listen to church service on the radio, does that count as long as I double up on my tithes next week:question:

that counts. there was a fella on here who’s tag line was “some folks go to church and think about fishin, when i go fishin i think about God”. true that.

I didn’t know anyone else did that.

I’d rather fish than eat.

A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.

In God We Trust

Did make it out to water, picked up new battery and away I went.

Hit water around 9 am and figured it was too late for freelines so I pulled up on a point and use fresh cut bait. Not exactly my favorite way to fish but it does work.

First fish of the am was a 3-4 catfish and I figured at least I was not skunked but was afraid that would be about all i would catch was cats but luckily that was the only cat of the day.

Not long after that I picked up a nice 4-5 lb striper so I was feeling better, then another smaller one and then ended up with 3 spotted bass as well on cut bait.

Decided to move a little down the channel and set up again and the bite was pretty steady. Last count was I caught and released a total of 14 fish, 4 spotted bass, 1 cat and the rest were stripers. Biggest of the day was a weighed 8lbs couple more 6+.

Fished the Island behind Andersonville Island, Shaw Island, and stayed until about 1:30 or so, had to get back to the house to see 16 yr old daughter off to her first prom.

Got a REAL NICE surprise back at the “TAZ” was at the dock to stop by and see how I did and even backed my truck into the water for me.

Had nice talk with Benny and his wife and he brought me a visor signed by Capt Blair Wiggins when he saw him at Dicks in Fl last year.

Benny I will treasure that and really do appreciate the visor, heck even my son that does not hunt or fish much knows Capt Blair and was impressed, THANKS AGAIN

Really would have liked to have pulled planer boards but this cut bait thing does work

Guess I will make it to church after all Sunday
