I found one at low tide today, seems to be in good shape. Anyone lose one? Is it worth anything?
Dang, I would think someone is missing that and would like it back. Weird find.
Wow - someone might have flipped their yak and lost it in the water? I would hate to lose something like that…$$$$!
It’s worth a few hundred dollars, I think. Call Dolphin Dave at Time Out- they are the Hobie dealer over there and could pass the word.
Ya it was! This was my first yak trip, I was back in a creek at low tide, probably 400 yards off main channel I just saw the pedal thought it was a bike haha…if noone claims it i guess i could use it tonhelp pay for my first yak

quote:Pretty nice of you posting this find. Someone lost their Hobie drive at a boat ramp last year while trying to install it. He really sounded bummed. But, there is no way it's the one you found. Hope the guy that lost this one made it back to land OK without the drive?

Thanks, for trying to help a guy out, FishOn. Good Karma or whatever and you’ll get a cold beer from me, if I ever meet you. Sometimes you start thinking that the good guys are on the decline.
For the kayak guys… is there some way to put a leash on those things? I always keep a small boat in the yard and the rule I was taught the first time I bought a Jon boat was… put a leash on the motor! If Hobie doesn’t provide an attachment point for a safety line then I think you guys should get on them.
I agree Ty, dolphin Dave said he knows a few people who have lost them.
Seems a bit common, anyway, i will give someone the opportunity to claim it for a few days but in the meantime I’m going to try and sell it, indent need this thing laying in my garage! No way this thing has been in the water for a year. It’s used but in good shape, functions great and the rust that’s on it is Definetly surface rust no corrosion.

Did you find it in MT P near Rathall Creek?

I have no idea if this guy was on a Hobie but could be.
Speaking of leashing stuff… do you guys have a security leash on your rods when they’re in the rod holders?
Sure didnt

I just met this “rescuee”. Girl out by herself without PFD on, knew she had a problem with her hatch, went out anyway, paddled to far with the current in an 8ft SOT, then fought it coming back, flipped over, filled up with water, and was stuck in “Quick Sand” until she called in a rescue. She lost her paddle, and some other gear and wants Wilderness systems to replace it for her. It was all I could do to not bust out laughing, so I reminded her she was lucky to still be with us, after her brush with certain death.
