Hollywood/Stono Ferry

Hey there guys, I fish mostly north of the harbor and have for years but my fiance and I are building a house in Hollywood in the Stono Ferry Area, so I’m guessing for convenience my fishing area is going to change. Do any of y’all have experience around there? i did a search and saw a few people catching reds on the Stono south of Wappoo cut but I’m more curious about heading back into Hollywood… My house will be right on log bridge creek but it won’t be a long haul to run into the Stono and Wadmalaw.I’d assume it’s saltwater but could be brackish for all I know. I just want to know if I’m going to be hauling my boat a long distance or if i’ll have some luck finding new spots near the new place.

Thanks for the help.

PLENTY of areas near that creek on the Stono. “Stonoman” lives on that same creek, maybe he’ll chime in as well.
Exit your creek onto the Stono and go right, towards the golf course and there’s plenty of docks along that stretch that hold redfish. Check out the marsh across from the golf course and you’ll find big reds. Going further past the golf course into Wadmalaw sound and the Church Creek Flats area you’ll find plenty of more spots.
Good luck, great area!

Thanks a lot! I’m really excited to get the house finished and start exploring!

mtoddsolomon,
I would like to invite you to a meeting of the Stono River Fishing Club. We meet this Wednesday here…
https://www.google.com/maps/@32.7893537,-80.0976448,196m/data=!3m1!1e3
It is at the end of McLeod Mill Road. The meeting starts at 7pm. We have a great group of guys that do a variety of fishing, Joe (Stonoman) will be there. There are dues but you can come and visit for a couple of meetings to decide if you want to join, but in the mean time you can get to know us.
We have experience in the Stono, in fact Stonoman lives on that same creek.
It is all salt water around there. There are some very good spots for Reds and Trout. I have caught a big bonnet head right across from Stono Ferry. Some of the Reds are way over slot! Stonoman last week pulled up a Crab Trap that was completely full!

Thank you, I’d like to come to the meeting. I appreciate the invite and advice.

You can try the toogoodoo river as well.

Double D.

Toogoodoo is no good. Lots of mines left over from the war. I would stay away.

Stonoman I am getting back into fishing after a much to long hiatus and would love to come check the Stono River Fishing Club out. Can you give me some info on when I can attend.

I fished the Stono for years before and it was always hit or miss. Same as most of the other local rivers. I like Charleston Harbor the best myself personally.

I don’t know if the website is up-to-date or not, but here is the link: http://www.stonoriverfishingclub.com/

If you’re lucky enough to be fishing, you’re lucky enough.
