Anybody got one? Seems to be very easy to make one out of a 2 liter bottle so I’m gonna try it before I spend a few dollars on a real one. Would love to see pics and descriptions if anyone has made their own that works well!

My dad made one from a bucket with a screw top b.c the stainless one kept rusting out. Just drilled a bunch of holes all over (not too big) then cut large holes in the sides where you can mount something conical that the minnows will swim into. I’d try to use as small a bucket as you can find so they can hone in on the entrances better and mount the entrance holes low on the bucket but not at the very bottom (will let water stay in the bucket even if it gets stranded in the mud at dead low). Also drill lots of little holes to allow adequate water exchange and also help get the bait scent flowing.
His worked OK but wasn’t as good as the ones you buy. I think if it had been tweaked a little, it would’ve been pretty good.
Just buy a real one. It’s $10 you’ll spend that much on bait in a day… and probably about 10$in material to make a new one…
Just zip tie it together.
Two soda bottles, 2 liters. Cut the top cone-shape off of both of them, as well as the bottom, leaving only a hollow tube. Drill lots of 1/4" holes in the tubes. You may actually find a hot soldering iron to be quicker, just do it outside lol.
Insert hollow tube #1 into #2, drill a few holes and zip tie those togther. Put the zip tie joint inside the trap to keep it from tangling up on your line when you toss it.
Flip the cone shapes you cut inside-out and zip-tie them into each end of your hollow tube. Be sure to put in a heavy weight (a rock or something) to weigh this down. Don’t skimp, and if you can zip-tie your weight to the very middle of the trap, so much the better.
Two free soda bottles and $2 in zip ties and some fun. I could see this being a great fun project to do with my boy.
