'06 Honda 225…1400hrs…check engine light comes and an intermittent alarm on at idle speed, runs great at higher rpms and wot, pull it back to idle and less than a minute alarm will go off again, turn off / on put in gear and will run fine. Motor seems to be burning additional fuel also (based upon our trip this weekend).

Just serviced… oil,oil filter,fuel filter, in line fuel filter, vst filter, thermostats, sparkplugs, waterpumps…

Thoughts??? O2 Sensor, throttle position sensor…

could be an 0-2 sensor, but also, have you had the valves adjusted?
at that number of hours, its definately due, and it will make the motor run rough at low rpms, and higher rpms, it will burn more fuel

Pulled O2 sensors last night, discolored and showed some rust, can these be cleaned or should I just replace?

Ballpark cost on valve adjustment?
