Honey Hole

What’s your definition of a Honey Hole? What qualifies for a honey hole to you?

I’ll post mine after some responses.

A spot I take no one to other than someone that I know will never be able to find it or doesn’t live around here!

Many definitions for a “honey hole” some are seasonal some are year round. Basically a spot to fish at that has a high sucess rate of catching fish after repeated visits. Always best to have several, Usually a honey hole is not a private spot. Lot’s of generations have been fishing our state and just about any spot you may think is a “new” honey hole is probably an “old” honey hole to someone else.

Edit: In my personal experience a good spot that produces Trout consistently is probably the most guarded “honey” hole.

That’s good didn’t think of that one! Of all my fishing spots (200+) only 2 fit my definition for a honey hole

It depends on the angler 10 fish might be your honey hole, 30 or 100 might be some one else’s. I have different honey holes, some are high numbers when the fishing goods, the others are guaranteed fish, and some are trophy fish. Some times I catch myself feeling like jeez its been literally 2 minutes without a hit I need to move, then I remember how a good spot will spoil you. For the most part I’ve been getting a hit per cast and fish like half that time. I went the other day to test a new spot and got hits like every 10 minutes but the fish were a little better quality. The nats were bad, the bite was what I’d call really slow and I just kept thinking do I want to go get hot action at the honey hole or try this new spot. I finally got about 20 main spots I go to with 5 being true honey holes.

I consider a honey hole as a spot I’ve never been skunked at, not the amount of fish caught there.

Nice flewbyu.

My definition is I can catch reds or trout on rising or falling tide any stage + any time of year…(winter or summer)

This man knows what he is talking about. I have some offshore bottom spot "honey hole". They only get fished on on weekdays, with family members, or super close friends.

Something I’ve never found.

Not sure your age, but for me a honey hole was always referencing a super duper good fishing spot. What your reference was referred to was a Flowing Well. all good!

Haven’t heard about “Flowing Well”?

I’m with DF, I have go to spots but don’t think there are any magic spots. If you put in enough time you find where the fish are likely to be at what tide, time of year, etc. Just my humble opinion…that said if y’all know any spots where the fish always bite please post numbers and I will stand corrected. lol
