Well, Im getting married in April and it’s getting close to that time to book the honeymoon. I have been many beautiful places but my girl has not. She was not lucky enough to visit and see some of the places I have seen.
We have decided to go somewhere tropical like the Bahamas or one of the Islands. I have been to Hawii, Vegas, Cali, Puerto Rico, Bermuda, Atlantis, St Kitts/Nevis and have loved them all.
I definitly want to go somewhere I have not been yet (Island wise). We are looking for somewhere with NO KIDS, some nightlife, maybe a casino, but somewhere that will really pamper the guests, since this will be her first real vacation, it’s got to be top of the line and somethign she will never forget.
I liked Atlantis, but it was tooo big, and too much to see and not enough special attention to the guests. The 4 Seasons in Nevis was that type of place, and one fo the best trips ever, but offered no nightlife or casino, or anythign really except great beaches, great services.
Any tips or ideas?

We’ve been to Sandals Grande St. Lucia and it was very nice. 5 star place with great accomodations, nice restaurants, night clubs, etc. Will definitely get pampered. Adults only. It’s an all-inclusive so meals, drinks, activities are all included. Great spa. St. Lucia is a beautiful island with great snorkeling, diving, watersports, windsurfing, fishing, etc. It also has great hiking up the volcanos. Nicest tropical place we’ve ever stayed.
By the way, I agree with your analysis of Atlantis. Basically a nice Vegas-strip hotel in the Carribean. Nice, but too big and impersonal. St. Lucia makes for a much nicer romantic get-away.
If you want small and personal at Atlantis, stay at the “One & Only” Ocean Club and not at the main resort. You do pay the price ($$$$$) for the difference though.

elcid,
sorry for the piggyback on this thread. My h’moon is looking to be March 7-14 in Costa Rica, mostly at a resort on the NW coast (flying in to Liberia). Any tips on fishing on a budget? inshore or off.
The Westin resort on St John is absolutely awesome. All inclusive, wonderful resort ( hell, it’s a Westin ) that was very personalized. Great for a honeymoon type trip. We were there for 15 days and did not want to come home. Flew into Puerto Rico and were ferried over to the island. They met us at the docks with ice cold towels ( for your neck ) and a drink they call " painkillers". A fruity drink that packs a punch. Beautiful resort with a bar in the middle of a huge pool. Two very upscale restaurants right there too. There are many fun things to do : sunset catamaran cruises, boat rentals, nude beaches closeby, awesome snorkeling, etc. We rented a boat and a captain and went to Sandy Spitt Island ( sports illustrated made this popular with the swimsuit calendars ) and did some great snorkeling, saw the sugar cane ruins, saw the entire island and went over into the British Virgin Islands too ( this is why you need the captain; customs ). We sampled rums made right there on the island of Tortuga in BVI. We visited world renowned beach bars that celebrities frequent quite often: Foxy’s and The Soggy Dollar Bar ( you have to swim to the island to get the bar, hence soggy dollar). They hang your $ on a clothes line to dry it out. We rented a car and drove around the island of St.John too. Saw lots of wild donkies (they will run out in the road right in front of the car). We had massages on the resort as well. I am guessing you know about The Westin’s Heavenly Bed? It is just that… We only went into town once to another world renowned bar: Duffy’s Love Shack. It was a blast. Everyone is very friendly as they still incorporate capital punishment. the entire island is solely funded by tourism (this is the personal touch). It was all moderately priced as well, I think. Anyway, wonderful place to go for that type of trip. We were astounded by almost every aspect of the island.
You can do NO better than a trip to one of the many Palace Resorts scattered across Mexico and the Caribbean. FIRST class everything. It’s your honeymoon and these places impress!! Check out www.palaceresorts.com. I believe the one in the DR has a casino. All are oceanfront, luxurious rooms, all-inclusive +++++, and great service. Just DO IT!!
