Does anybody have any experience with charters here. The wife and I are going in a couple weeks and would love to get a trip out. Most of the reviews I have read online dont have anything good to say about the charters I find. Would love to have first hand knowledge from someone who has been out with one. Thanks in advance.
They have differnt terms for locals verses turists. They will keep your fish unless you clarify it upfront. They will keep the particular fish you want to eat, if you don’t clarify “you pick” up front.
The fish are close in, gas is not a problem. Most troll the same lures everyday, so ask the captain if he will do other (troll small tuna for marlin)etc.
Lived out there for 3 years. Check out Maggie Joe. Great operation.
Try Chupu Charters. Fiance got a Blue One with them back in October. Whoever you charter, be sure to tell them how you want to fish (focus on Marlin, ect). Those boats are happy to fish around the FADs all day and catch small dolphin, which they end up selling. Keep in mind those boats keep EVERYTHING, so if you want to release your billfish, tell them up front.
