Hook a Troop II

Started this thread a while back to see if any of you guys would be interested in it.

After some talk with others, we came to the conclusion that taking troops out fishing a couple hours out at Short Stay (Lake Moultrie), and then tying up for a BBQ/fish fry would be better for the weather. Trying to pick a particular date for the ocean is about a 25% chance of the seas cooperating.

Gonna shoot for June 1st. That is when a lot of people that have been deployed for a long time are coming back from overseas.

email me at rumrunner21@gmail.com if you would like to have a good time, and hear some good war stories. Just send me your name, boat type, registration number (for DNR fishing waiver), how many troops you can take, and phone number.

I think the easiest way instead of having a blast off, would be pick a time you would like to head out fishing and i will give you the troops phone numbers. You can call them and give them a time, and rules of your boat. I will be there early to get you in the gate at Short Stay if you plan on using the Ramp there, and help everyone launch their boat.

I’ll have a small pontoon, and my W/A off the beach of Short Stay with grill fired up at noon till everyone passes out. Will have some cheap Walmart scales to weigh fish… but this is not a hard core tournament, will try and get some small prizes, and the troops days off for heaviest, longest, fatest fish, etc.

Will also have a big fryer to fry up fish, if any are actually caught.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and please spread the word to others! If you don’t fish, come on out and pull a couple guys around on tubes, and have a beer. Most of them are in need of a good time, since they all may be going to Korea soon (assumption)!

If anyone would like to donate any prizes, beer, moon shine, etc let me know. Or if u need any help for the event… getting a boat running, fix trailers, etc, will be happy to help out. We need boa

Good luck!!

We have an almost identical event set up on Lake Murray for June 7th, taking about 75 troops out striper fishing to be followed by a BBQ lunch and weigh in. I strongly suggest that anyone that is able to gets involved in this. Last year was the first one on Murray and the troops had a blast!

Great job putting this together. I wish I could get my boat up there to help out. If you put anything together again for the salt water area please let me know. PM me for a location to bring some adult beverages.

Coates I would really be down for this I have a 25ft pontoon that I could take 3-5 people on and can proably get a few more boats involed from down that way. I will shoot you a message on FB and help you get the word out. I fish that area a lot and would love to give back to the ones that make it possible for me to live the life I do in the free country that I do. Thanks for putting this together I would think people should be jumping at this.

Great! We are doing our Military Appreciation Day in Morehead City on June 1 and currently have over 1000 people signed up and close to 200 volunteers.

I wish everyone would do something like this for those that serve.

Thank you for taking this on
