Been there done that Cortland! Only difference was, I was to cheap to go to the Doctor! Just pushed it out the other side. By the looks of your’s that would have been hard to do?
Been there, done that. I tried with mono and went to my knees. Turns out the bait keeper barbs on the Z-Man trigger hook had gone through the tendon. Took a bit of the tendon with it when the Doc finally was able to yank it out with a pair of lineman’s pliers.

I have done this twice. Once i was throwing a gotcha plug off my paddle board and stepped on the treble getting off it. Another time when king fishing and hooked my finger. Both times i had to push it through and then cut the hook with pliers. not fun experiences.i hate when I see this happen to anyone.

Been there done that too, a few times. Worst ever was when I was trying to unhook a Skate for my wife from a two hook rig. Skate was on bottom hook, top hook got stuck in my finger, skate was still swimming around next to the boat, the wife was still yanking on the rod. My buddy tried to help by yanking the rod away from my wife while trying to cut the Skate free. I was seeing black spots in front of my eyes, until I passed out. Woke up, with two friends helping me back up, hook still stuck in finger but Skate was gone. Asked them WHY they didn’t yank the hook out WHILE I was passed out!!!
Dang treble hook, my daughter did that in Hilton Head. She stepped on it. I wasn’t there but she ended up at the E.R.

Been there done that more times than I care to remember, only had two that required doctors visits and on that required surgery. Thanks for the documentation, that was too good and makes me wish I had done the same over the past years. Once the swelling and pain goes away you will have a great story and video pass around. Ouch been there. I tried the mono trick and it wouldn’t budge from my finger, so I grabbed some pliers and started yanking. I figured if I yank once really hard, the hook will come out…worst pain of my life and didn’t budge the hook. maybe if I yank harder…stars…
Ended up cutting the hook by the shank and running it through my finger with some pliers, which was nearly painless compared to trying to yank it out.
What did they do, inject some saline to swell it up? Looked like he just took some pliers and wiggled it until it popped out.

Lidocaine injections at the base of the finger. I could have stuck it in a tree chipper and not felt it. Little sore today but looks like no more than a mark from a splinter.

An FYI, the side cutters on a pair of crimpers will cut most hooks Had to push a # live bait Owner through my palm and clip it off miles out. 23 Sailfish got a good laugh out of that one…

those skitterwalk hooks are hard to cut. Doc considered a ring cutter but finally got it with a special pair of heavy guage wire cutters that he had to open from a medical wrapping. They gave me all the scissors, tweezers and hemostats but i couldnt get those cutters. Guess they sanitize them and re use them.here they are and i see why he wouldnt let me have them now.
