Wayne, Chad, Rusty, Marty and myself decided to make a go at it this morning after being greeted by several boats that were coming back in. These guys were in boats bigger than what we were in, and they were giving us the thumbs down sign. I spoke to Knot Again and he said that it was too snotty out there to venture out. Yes, the weather was questionable, but we decided to hold on to our balls and go for it. We left the jetties @ 0630 and finally made it to where we were going to fish. It took us 3 hrs. to make it to where we were going to fish. 40 miles out we found 76.7 degree water and it was colbalt blue. Coveys of bitty flying fish were everywhere. We knew it was a good sign. Ended the day with 17 dolphin(mostly gaffers) and 3 king mackerel. The biggest king was close to 30lbs. All fish were caught on blue and white witches and squitches. (3) double and (1) triple header and several high fives. The ocean was like a washing machine and for the ride home it leveled off and we ran 40mph back to the hill. The waves were 3ft. on top of 7ft. swells about every 9 seconds. We had swells and waves slapping the boat most of the day, until it was time to head in. Saw one other boat out on the pond today. Very little weeds at all.
I was admiring your courage for going on a day my old back would “Just Say No”.Looks like y’all had a good day.Saiflow.com said it would lay down nice in the PM.I’m glad it did.
Ran between 7 to 12 knots out, it was kinda like offshore racing, I held the wheel while my partner was the throttle man. Every time we would see a huge swell he would back out of it and we would coast over the swell. It was an interesting ride out to the fishing grounds. Had a new comer on the boat and he was hoping that something good was going to become of this ball bangin ride out. He was impressed by the end of the day. He even said that he was going to sell his bass boat and fish with us more often.
