What size circle hooks do you use when free lining?..if you even use circle hooks. thanks

Gamakatsu Octopus Circle Hooks. Size depends on bait used. Very strong hook.

hey karma; you replied to the man but did not give him any sizes. at least give him a couple of numbers. he could be like some of the rest of us and new to striper fishing and could use the help. i know that i would be interested in you expounding on the subject. not bustin your nuts; just trying to get a better idea. thanks

Read the descriptions of each hook size listed. Very bait specific. I thought I gave him some pretty good info. I usually use the #1 or 1/0. Have used bigger on the Hill.

No worries, wearing a cup[:0] Hooks are a prefrence item and opinions on them are like a$$holes, everybody has one.

I am far from that. Had some good teachers on the Hill and Murray shorten the curve. Still a long way to go. Still have plenty of junk days.

I put in at Dreher and I can just pick you up one afternoon. Just PM me.

Good luck on the canals and I would like to get some info on that. Good luck

Karma is right on, i like using 1/0 too. but i’m an amatuer.

Cool breeze, sounds like fun, hope you bring back some excellent pics to show.

Smaller hooks let the bait swim more naturally. I use the eagle claw Kahle hooks they sell at all the bait shops. I use #2 unless the bait is very big then I go to a #1 or 1/0. I also put a small piece of rubber band on the hook before the herring to keep the hook from turning back into the bait. I cant seem to get out of the habit of setting the hook when using circle hooks so I just don’t use them. Plus the Kahle hooks are cheaper.
