Started late (11 am) due to hangovers, questionable forecasts and a big ding in the bow of my boat. Wended our way out to Commanche stopping at Castle Pinckney for a couple of busting bluefish, Morris Island for menhaden, a super secret spot outside the harbor for a 27" cobia (released…unlike the 44 lber last week!) Ocean was flat, might have been the weeds everywhere acted like a big wave damper. Got one fat cow mahi right off the bat slow trolling menhaden between the weedmats just shy of the fleet at Commanche and a donkey off the wreck. All in all a fun, relaxing alternative to the usual 14 hour offshore marathons. Besides, I’m pretty sure I can’t fit any more mahi in my freezer!
