On Friday we took the best ride out, wanting to get as far south as possible. We ended up on the 450 line and put the lines out on the ledge. The water was as green as the water in the harbor, but still managed to catch two nice dolphins and a bluefish. We pushed out to the deep, where the rest of the fleet was on a weedline and color change. It was loaded with fish. We ended up filling the fish box with 36 nice-sized dolphins, most in the 20-25 lb range. We could not keep lines in the water, sometimes only puling three or four before getting covered up.
The ocean was beautiful on the offshore side of the weedline, as the current and wind were going in the same direction. The ride home was fairly smooth as we made 24 knots to the hill. The dolphin hit just about everything we pulled, but we got the most action of the Lehi bleeding dolhin Squitches. Capt. Howard Moseley has the Hot Shot out again today. If the weather holds, I’ll be back out there tomorrow.
I don’t know how long the dolphin will stay around like this, but the fishing is awesome right now.
