Hot Shot report for May 22 & 23, 2010

On Saturday we started offshore of the Outcrop on the 270 line in 300 feet of water. We pushed out to 700 feet of water and caught a few nice dolpins, then came back into 400 feet and caught a few more. We went back out to about 800 feet of water and found a nice rip and caught some more dolphins. We ended the day with 15 gaffers.

On Sunday we fished the same areas and caught some nice dolphins, the biggest being 31 lbs. We found a group of skipjacks chasing bait on the surface and caught a few of them. While we were reeleing them in, a white marlin was swimming under the teasers. It just swam around but would not eat a pitch bait. We ended the day with 18 nice dolphins.

The hot lures for this weekend were the blue/white sail lures on the short riggers and the Lehi squitches (pink/white and bleeding dolphin) on the mid and long riggers.

The ocean was flat on Saturday and got even calmer for Sunday. It was just a beautiful weekend on the ocean.

It’s funny how these weather reports and wave forecasts are sometimes not even close. Glad you had a great 2 days.
