Cut out from work at 10 and was at Limehouse by 11:15. Tide was about 45 mins past high with a good current and water vis was excellent for the Stono. Hit a few creeks mouths and some shoreline in between before heading over to a spot that has been known to hold trout (this will be an understatement). 4-8 feet of water over a hard sand bottom, moving water, and it was on like Donkey Kong. Used a glow DOA, but switched to a fire tiger shad body on a 1/4 oz jig head to be able to cover more water. Stopped counting after 25 trout when every cast was a fish. Most were 12-14", but there was a smattering of 15-17" fish mixed in. After about 90 mins the bite slowed a little and I was off to find some reds to the south. Easily 40+ trout from a 50 yards stretch of shoreline.
Stopped at one spot quickly and got 25"+ red on a Zman Paddlerz. Moved on and got close to where I wanted to fish and the birds gave up there position right away. Snuck into range and went 3 out of 4; all were nice tournament fish at 22" and change. All tagged.
Headed further south still and found some more reds, but they had lock jaw. That was okay because I set up between the main current flow and the bank and pick up another 10 or so trout on the DOA. Back at the ramp at 4 PM.
Total for about 3 hours of fishing was 50+ trout and 4 reds. I will be back out there on Sunday.
