I’ll give one… I have not been on Murray since the 29th of July due to concentrating on Clark’s Hill. In the weeks leading up to the MSC tournament, we caught several nice fish in the 15-20 pound class but couldn’t make it happen in the tournament. Today, it was back to the home waters.
Spoon, Kelly, and I got bait from David around 7 and simply motored out to the river channel in the shadow of the dam. After surveying the situation, we put out the 7 foot drift sock, a couple of freelines with #5 splitshots, some 30-40 foot down rods, and jigging spoons. Slowly drifting the channel, we picked up our 15 fish limit by a little after 10. The biggest fish were only 6-7 pounds, but only 4 would have been shorts. We caught them equally as well on the freelines with 40-60 feet of line out and the downrods. The fish seem to be moving up in the water column to feed and avoid the oxygen squeeze. Good choice on their part!
We only noticed 3 floaters while out there; so hopefully things are improving.
