My Portfolio is real old fashion:
Real Estate (Shopping Center)& (100 acres w/1100’Pee Dee frontage)
Oil( BP Gas station)
Consumer Products(Coke, Pepsi, Frito Lay etc.)
Alcohol(Bud, Miller, Coors, & imports)
Tobacco (PM, RJR, & Lorilord)
Precious Medals and Gems http://www.carolinadiamond.com
Food Service (Micky’s Grill) dart nite very popular

Diversified, I’d say, but I don’t have the courage to buy stock in a company that I have no control over. I must be a control freak or something.

65% PIMCO Bonds
30% Money Market
5% Equities

That’s a winning formula right now…

That looks like a Jim Cramer list!

watch the retailers! some of them just got a nice pop and they might be bound for a bounce.
refiners like COP and XOM are highly volatile.
RIMM is the closest competition to the iPhone
DIS just blew the numbers out of the water…thanks Hannah Montana!
And Wells Fargo might be a take-out candidate…mark my words!

yea, Cramer would love this list…safe and sound!

Here’s another angle on diversity:

  1. prepare yourself to get a job that pays well- your time is your most valuable asset so you want a good return on it.
  2. a spouse that followed number 1 (OK, so I missed that one).
3)maximally educate and prepare your kids- they may provide the greatest return and act as a type of insurance.
  3. income producing commercial real estate in multiple markets. Nearly all companies need a place to work and they’ll pay their rent before they pay out a dividend.
  4. undeveloped land in multiple markets- they can’t just issue more of it.
  5. equities- of course they have a role. Unless your doing arbitrage for a large I-bank, or something similar, it’s tough to create wealth that way.
  6. play on CF.com. Everyone needs a break.

stickman

I actually picked up all but TJX and heard Cramer and others talk about them later. My wife heard about Tjx on “Mad Money” and did her rasearch,so I bought it for her for her 50th Bday.I wanted an affordable retailer also and bought an equal amount of KOL during the big January pull back.So far,I’m winning. No coincidence that my stocks are “safe & sound” as I am an invester at this time and don’t have the expertise to be trading. Also, the wife (thankfully) keeps us in a high bracket even though I am retired and I would like to only pay cap gains on profits taken.I plan to set aside some after tax “play $” later this year and do some trading for fun.It will be after the SDR as I am busy during that season.
