do they send the bar glasses into the kitchen ( if there is one) where they are washed in a dishwasher? or do they do some kind of dip process (which sounds like germ soup?
I went to England and the bars had some kind of super hot steam 4 or 5 minute “drawer” in the bar for bar glasses. I got a really dirty glass at a downtown king st bar last weekend
They use a commercial bar dishwasher usually. It’s like the steam drawer you’re thinking of. Your dirty glass was either a result of a piece of equipment that needs maintenance, or just deposits in the water from our Charleston water.
There is no set standard. Some may use a washer/sanitizer, but many others still use the three sink method…wash, rinse, sanitize. No that does not mean germ soup.
Some bartenders lick them clean.

My beers come in a clean glass every time. And I make sure the bartender screws the cap off the bottle in front of me before, I drink it.
Now… if he washes the glass out in the sink or in some steam drawer before he throws the empty away… I don’t know. But, the next beer arrives in a glass and he screws the bottle cap off in front of me before, I accept it.
BiggerthanYours; That’s a good idea! You sure don’t want anyone to slip something into your beer. You might wind up Date Raped! That would spoil your whole night, ah, yeah that’s what would happen???

I thought you might.

Beer tastes better out of a bottle (glass). But then again that skunky stuff you drink is probably improved with an aluminum taste.

Make sure you wipe off the top of your can they can be nasty!
Pro tip…When you are sitting at a bar and the bartender washes the glasses at the bar sink, sit across the bar in front of that sink so you can watch her bend over and wash the glasses.

Ah, clean bar glasses. Huge debates over this. There’s even a Facebook group documenting sightings of “dirty” glasses around town.
Keep in mind, “dirty” isn’t necessarily visible. Next time you get a beer, examine the glass. Any bubbles clinging to the sides in certain spots? If so, dirty glass - some kind of film on the inside of the glass forming nucleation sites.
Don’t even start the frosted mug debate…

</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”>This is actually a point of contention in the craft beer scene. There are certain well-regarded and highly-sought beers that come only in cans, and the brewers actually insist you drink them directly from the can. If air and light are beer’s enemy, an aluminum can is certainly better protection than a glass bottle.
That said, this doesn’t apply to Miller, Bonzo.

If a mug or glass has lip or fingerprints, it goes back. Otherwise, I depend on the alcohol to clean it.
Canned is OK but It does taste better in a bottle. If I dring draft beer it gives me a headache.

Nothing is gonna live in the stuff I order. You could sanitize a gun shot wound before operation with it.

do you know the name of the Facebook group?
Thanks
At my place of employment we use the automatic glass washers. There are two ways you can sanitize. You can rinse with 180 degree or higher water or you can use a chemical sanitizer. Both ok by DHEC as long as they are within parameters.
