How do you hook your shrimp

I just wanted to get an idea how the different ways that everyone hooks their shrimp when fishing? I’ve always gone right behind the head, but they always die so quick. Think I’m going to start hooking them in the tail.

I always hook them at the base of the horn nice clear spot they seem to live well and don’t come off as easy

I like to use an 1/8 oz jighead and tail hook them…

This is how I typically do it…There is a little spot at the base of the horn and in front of the little black cloud (brain) in their head that accepts a hook perfectly.

I could see Bonzo’s way being effective too, jig head or not.

stumpnocker out of curiosity, do you ever have problems with the fish just biting the back part off and leaving just the head and hook

By the horn for hanging under a popping cork.

Jighead or Carolina rig
Nip the fan off the tail
Thread hook vertically through end of tail and back up to mid section of tail. Essentially double hooked.

Only the bait-stealers…they leave just the shell or just eat the legs:smiley:

If you have enough bait to fight through em you can sometimes pick up a fish or 2 in the process though…
