How do you know where to dig clams?

In the Chesapeake Bay area they are harvested from boats using long handled clam rakes. Is that done in S.C?

If you look where the oyster banks start to get muddy look for old clam shells. If they are around look for a lump in the mud about the size of a clam. Some times you can see a part of the clam. Where you find 1 clam there is almost always more.
