I am just wondering how everyone is setting up there rig for fishing for Trout and Reds.
Are you bottom fishing? Fishing below a float? If so, what depth. Size hooks? How much sinker? How much leader between sinker and hook?

All of the above it depends on who you talk to. Floating live baits works great target areas are key. Artificial baits are my preference if I’m catching fish. Depths and weight will vary depending on the area and current your in. When bottom fishing try a Carolina rig with about 2 ft of leader and a circle hook. Also try out the search function on the site lots of good information to be had. Good luck!

I tie on 1/4 to 2 oz size egg weight, come up a desired amount (10 to 18 in)and tie a dropper loop and add hook.I have caught enormous reds on it. It requires less time to rig and less hardware than a C rig. I’ve been using this rig for reds since I was old enough to cast a pole and I promise you it will get them. I also cast a cork with a 10-36 inch leader (depending on depth/tide), with a split shot and 2 or 3 O eagle claw #85… or a kahle hook works too. Use a circle hook on the bottom rig so you can fish the other rod and not worry about throat hooking a fish on the bottom rig. another good rig is to put a mud minner on a jig head. you can do this with a minner alone or add him to a jig already on the jig head.
I’d rather be a free man in my grave than living as a puppet or a slave.

I only use carolina rigs 2oz barrel, and my leader is 20 pound test and 6 inches long.Circle hook barb bent
Stonoman
I like Stono mans set up with the shorter leader = less gut hook, even with a circle a long leader can lead to gut hook on Reds. I use a 4/0 circle with this same set up.
My other favorite set up is a s!/p b@!!%r where you can adjust the depth. Smaller light wire circle that I put either a finger mullet or shrimp on and float over oyster bars and other eddie type water. I catch Reds, Trout and Flounder on this rig.
