How do you sell a project boat?

My 2000 30" Pursuit Express is on the hard in Hilton Head. After a head on collision with a whale the port shaft and prop are missing, the rudders are bent and the strut is twisted (big whale) and there is some water damage to wiring etc. The engines and gears were water sample tested and are fine in fact we came in on one engine after plugging the shaft hole with a bung.

The insurance company is not totaling the boat but I am ready to move on and settle then sell the Pursuit. Does anyone know of individuals or yards that buy these types of damaged boats? One month prior to the collision I put $6K into the engines and put on new canvas and coaming. The boat is in overall great condition.

There is a number of salvage sites out there that sell these kinds of boats. They are normally totalted by the insurance company and VERY cheap but can require a good bit of work. I would suggest taking some pictures of it, describing what happened, price it right and sell it as is before I went to one of those sites. There is a large portion of the population that would love to have a boat like that but can not afford the price tag for a new one.

I know its sounds obvious, but the way you usually have to sell a project boat, is “very cheap”
