How far do I need to go????

Just recently started fishing out of Bohicket where the Edisto dumps into the ocean. I’ve stayed pretty close to shore so far and had so so luck. Does anybody know how far I need to go out to get into 40-60 get of water?? Or possibly North or South? Just getting started out here and could use any help available on technique or depth. Thanks again.

4ki which is pretty much straight out of the inlet is probably 7-8 miles?? Its about 45’ there. 60’ is pretty close to 10miles out. Its a long trip in a small boat.

Thanks tigerfin. Does anybody know if people catch any kings or spanish off Seabrook or Kiawah? Just trying to get my bearings out here. Thanks again
