I’m picking up a 22’ mako hull this week, I hope to have it rigged by mid summer. So now ill have a larger boat with more range. Ive always wanted to catch some tuna. Is it possible to catch them without going all the way to the stream? Is there a time of year where you only have to go 30 or 40 miles, not the full 65+?
You should be able to load the boat with bronzefin tuna in that range.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I caught tons of tuna on my boat in 60’ this Saturday. If you want to catch tuna that you can eat, you need to go at least 30 miles from the jetties. Be safe.
I have caught a few Blackfin in 120’ (38 miles) over the years, but most are going to be caught at the 30 fathom ledge from G-Town hole to Edisto Banks. Looks like you will be running 50+ miles.
