How far up the Wando will the reds travel? All the way? It seems that closer to “the end” would be shallower and safer from predators, so maybe good to fish there?

I am no marine biologist but your theory seems sounds. Shallower water means warmer water as well so it seems that would be another benefit of moving up river. Maybe our resident marine biologist or some other experts will weight in. I have never been past Horlbeck creek so I have no idea where to fish above that.
Yes and no. The wando is all salt, but with your size boat, you need to pay attention on the upper part. That is really for jon boats, unless you want to make the run from remely’s, which isn’t really worth it because the way I think about it, you are just passing up plenty of spots where fish are at.
“In every species of fish I’ve angled for, it is the ones that have got away that thrill me the most, the ones that keep fresh in my memory. So I say it is good to lose fish. If we didn’t, much of the thrill of angling would be gone.” Ray Bergman
The thing is - I live on the upper Wando (I’m about a 25 minute ride up-river from Remley’s Point). I don’t know if I should just fish here (I do catch them but 1-2 at a time and haven’t seen a school yet) or further up-river or maybe I should head down-river toward Horlbeck and farther.
thanks.

Rivermonster is right. As one who puts in at Paradise landing allot, I can tell you it is better suited for as he said, jon boats. I also see allot of kayaks and canoes put in and venture upstream. My advice is not to try to put in anywhere near a low tide as you will not get out of or back to the landing. At the low your trailor will also drop off the landing. If you do venture that far up you had better know the river well espcially on the low. I have had better luck fishing from Paradise back to the 41 bridge and get out of the landing at least 2 hours before the low. Hope this helps.

I live about 1/2 way between Paradise and the 41 bridge. So it sounds like I’m just as well off staying close-to-home than making a big travel looking for fish.

Lots of fish near paradise, but that launch is so dicey … Not to mention the 12’ Gator that popped up beside me on the kayak during the summer
Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.
