I fish a lot of these, personally I don’t have a big problem with it. We all have the option to travel, some times it’s a gamble that does not pay out. I fished in Charleston last year for the Savanah event and struck out and a bunch of guys fished Florida and came up short as well. Charleston has bigger reds Florida bigger trout, think it canceled each out. Our fish this past weekend were off due to the storm. Also, those top 4 winners are top-dog angles and would have handeled themselves just fine if they fished in Charleston.
Couldnt agree more. It burned me up to see all those jax guys on the podium, while the hometown guys who fished hometown waters watched from the crowd. In my mind, the whole point of multiple “qualifying” tournaments should be to test the anglers’ ability to adapt their techniques to new and “local” conditions- not to test how quickly someone can get up and down the highway.

Rules are rules. Kind of sux though. I guess you can’t hold it against the Florida boys, congrats. IFA needs to take another look at this.

Yes the IFA is at the root of the problem but the guys who went to Florida and IMO cheated since we can’t compete with the trout from down there, are just as mush to blame… It’s sad that some people are so focused on a check and being the “man” that tourneys like this turn to this… Not that I am the best kayak fisherman out there and am so good no one can touch me, I am FAR from that but I’ll never fish an IFA tournament… never.

If it makes anyone feel any better the winner of the Jax IFA this year fished his home waters in Titusville so it happens everywhere. Just what the rules are.
Rob sent you a pm the jacket is yours.
I think the only way you could limit travel would be to a morning check out to get your identifier , pick it up one hour before safe light with capt meeting the night before.
Either way me and my son will keep fishing them we have a good time fishing em and you never know what is going to happen on the next cast.
