Hey guys - quick question: Saturday evening I was out and caught 3 bass (largemouth). I put them on ice and filleted them Sunday morning & put them in the fridge intending to cook them that night. Didn’t get around to it and I had to work late last night (Monday).
So now I’m looking at ~3 days after catch and being off ice in the fridge for 2.5 days. Are they still safe to eat? Typically I pretty much always cook them right away or immediately freeze them so I’ve never really let them sit in the fridge this long.
Thanks!
They should be OK, not like fresh but OK. If you put fish in the fridge, always cover them in ice, pour off the water as it melts and new ice again. But that is only for a few days.

Well I cooked it - tasted fine. If there’s zombies running around by the weekend tell them it was the fish.
You’ll be just fine. Bad fish (and chicken) will certainly let you know it olfactorily
.
If I’m keeping fish in the fridge for a couple of days, I put it in a large bowl and cover it with cold water and ice.
