how long does meal last?

Didn’t get to shrimp but twice last year and had bought some meal at the end of 2010 season. Has been in a sealed 5 gallon bucket since then…anyone think it will still be productive? Or should I toss it?

I would assume that if it’s not solidified (damaged by humidity), then it should be good-to-go.

Not my “professional” advice, but what’d I’d chalk up as common sense. However, I’ve had sensical ideas before that were not so common practice.

I used bait from last year today and they liked it. Go try it.

Wishin I was fishin.

I have used meal three years old, with no problems!! Just keep dry!

Do not use old meal. Tell me where you are and I will come get it and dispose of it for you. I store left over meal in buckets, also. I’ve used meal that was 5 years old and it worked fine. I try to buy my meal after the season is over. Most retailers will reduce it to get rid of it.

If it doesn’t smell like straight up ammonia it should be alright. Do of you can make tour baitballs without gagging then it should be fine
