Caught 3 whiting a couple of days ago and had to go out of town unexpectedly and didn’t get a chance to clean them. I left them whole in the fridge and was wondering how long they are good uncleaned in the refridgerator?
thanks

i don’t like to leave fish without atleast gutting them. you can always fillet them later. things come up, it happens . . . are they on ice too? or just in the refridgerator? ice helps a lot, but if they are not iced down, i wouldn’t eat them if i didn’t get to them within 2 days. i am pickier than most, but the longer the guts stay in there, it starts to taint the meat (imo)

I leave them in a ziplock with all the blood drained out sitting on ice. I have eaten them up to a week like that. I am one of the smell check guys though. If it don’t stink I will eat it!

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

If they weren’t gutted, 1 day max.

lol to the max
thanks, I ended up freezing them for bait. I’m going to start bringing my filet knife and clean them on the beach from now on. I caught 2 more yesterday and cleaned them and put them on ice before I left the beach.
Crabtrap! Lightly rancid whiting with milky eyes (especially from Wando Shrimp Co) is the best bait, knife it up real good too.
